The style of Karate is Shukokai which means "The Way for All". As such this fast flowing style really does suit everybody; whether young or old, male or female even large or small. Our roots go all the way back to instruction from Sensei Kimura and we uphold his traditions to this day.

BACKGROUND
about us

We are members of the Federation of English Karate Organisations.

Our instructors are all fully registered and certificated. The aims of the group is to seek out all that is best in Shukokai Karate, to follow the world's best instructors when the chance arises, to develop along traditional lines and to teach each other.

The founder clubs were Rochdale Shukokai Sutemi Shukokai Karate Ryu (Bury) and Dragon Karate Academy (Prestwich).

SENIOR
INSTRUCTORS

The Association Senior Instructors are (in alphabetical order) - Adrian Coan (6th Dan) and Stewart Procter (6th Dan). We uphold all the traditional Shukokai principles and aim to keep our Kata traditional; we appreciate slight deviation of combinations within Kata between different groups and can tolerate this.

STRUCTURE

There is no chief instructor as such, both senior instructors are equal and decide the solutions to day to day issues as they arise.

As a new club joining ASK, you will have autonomy within the secure structure of a successful association.

MEMBERS

Joining a Karate class is a great way to develop fitness, confidence and self defence. Karate usually concentrates on punches, kicks, strikes and some throws. Karate classes teach students how to utilises the power of your body and muscles to deliver powerful attacks to drive aggressors back.
